续断菊（Sonchus asper (L.) Hill），也称花叶滇苦菜，双子叶植物纲，菊目，菊科，苦苣菜属，一年生或二年生草本。

幼苗子叶阔卵形。下胚轴明显，稍呈粉红色。初生叶椭圆形，先端急尖，有叶柄。后生叶椭圆形，先端钝尖，刑状脉明显，幼苗全株无毛。成株根纺锤状或圆锥状。茎高30~70 cm，分枝或不分枝，无毛或上部有头状腺毛。叶长椭圆形或披针状，缺刻状分裂或羽状全裂，边缘有不等的刺状尖齿，下部叶的叶柄有翅，中、上部的叶无柄。

头状花序直径约2 cm，花序梗常有腺毛或初期有蛛丝状毛。头状花序数个，在茎顶端密集排列呈伞房状。总苞钟形或圆简形，直径8~11 mm，长1.2~1.5 cm。总苞片2~3层，草质，绿色，外层的批针形，内层的线状批针形，先端钝，边缘膜质。舌状花黄色，长约1.3 cm，舌片长约0.5 cm。瘦果长椭圆状倒卵形，扁平；短宽而光滑，每面除有明显的3纵肋外，无横纹，有较宽的边缘；长约16 mm。瘦果，褐色，冠毛白色。
